MEET HOWARD
From personal trauma to product LAUNCH
Howard first started to suffer from tinnitus in 2014 after playing guitar at a band rehearsal. He went to bed that night with a high-pitched ringing in his ears which never left him.
He saw a doctor, who said he would just have to live with it. He then tried acupuncture, hypnotherapy, mindfulness, vitamins and medication. He even joined a medical trial and had injections through his eardrums… but nothing worked.
In 2019 Howard’s tinnitus worsened after a high-speed windsurfing crash, resulting in life-saving surgery. Find out how he overcame the odds and made TinniSoothe a reality.
The search for
24/7 tinnitus relief.
Quiet moments were the worst. The only thing that gave Howard any relief was turning on a TV, listening to music or using some kind of white noise to distract him from the tinnitus.
Known as sound enrichment, this is a recommended self-help technique for managing tinnitus. But switching devices on and off all the time was not very practical, and not always possible. He needed to find a better way to manage those constant transitions between noise and quiet.
In 2018, Howard had an idea. He started developing a tiny, wearable white noise device to provide constant relief – all without the need for anything in or around the ears.

Since that moment of inspiration, the team here at TinniSoothe have developed numerous prototypes, tirelessly testing and improving all aspects of the device. The aim has always been clear - to make an easy-to-use and effective device that can be discreetly worn throughout the day and bring relief at night.
It may sound simple, and essentially it is. Simplicity drove the design. Many years of prototyping have made the user experience as seamless as it can be, so you don’t have to give it a second thought. Get up, put it on in the morning … and go about your day.
And it doesn’t end here. We’ll continue to innovate and develop, to improve the lives of all those people struggling with tinnitus.
I’m generally a ‘just-do-it’ person, so my tinnitus has never really stopped me from doing things. But tinnitus can bring with it a lot of stress and anxiety, and TinniSoothe has helped me to keep that in check. Wearing it gives you confidence for the whole day and the rest of my life is better as a result..
