About the tinnisoothe team
TinniSoothe was created by a small team with one aim: to make tinnitus easier to live with. Built from Howard’s own experience, it grew into a practical wearable device designed for real daily life.
From Lived Experience To TinniSoothe
Howard first developed tinnitus in 2014 after playing guitar at a band rehearsal that was too loud. He went to bed that night with a high-pitched ringing in his ears, and it never stopped.
He saw a doctor, who told him he would just have to live with it. Over the years, he explored many different ways to manage it, including CBT, acupuncture, hypnotherapy, hearing aids and medication. He even joined an NHS medical trial and had six injections through both eardrums.
Some approaches helped him understand tinnitus better. But the one thing he found consistently helpful in day-to-day life was sound.
The Idea Behind TinniSoothe
For Howard, the hardest moments were often the transitions into quiet. Each time background noise stopped, his tinnitus was pulled back into focus.
Gentle background sound helped him put it to the back of his mind. But TVs, music, apps and bedside sound machines were not always practical, discreet or easy to use throughout normal daily life.
That gap became the starting point for TinniSoothe: a small wearable device designed to provide sound enrichment without anything in or around the ears.
In 2018, Howard began developing the idea.
The result is TinniSoothe.
THE DEVELOPMENT OF TINNISOOTHE
Innovation from inspiration
Since that moment of inspiration, the team here at TinniSoothe have developed numerous prototypes, tirelessly testing and improving all aspects of the device. The aim has always been clear - to make an easy-to-use and effective device that can be discreetly worn throughout the day and bring relief at night.
It may sound simple, and essentially it is. Simplicity drove the design. Many years of prototyping have made the user experience as seamless as it can be, so you don’t have to give it a second thought. Get up, put it on in the morning … and go about your day.
After years of prototyping, we were granted UK Patent GB2576223. And it doesn’t end here. We’ll continue to innovate and develop, to improve the lives of all those people struggling with tinnitus.

Joined by his brother Lloyd (left) and good friend Jez Lawson (right), we worked for over 6 years to bring TinniSoothe to life – and we continue to work tirelessly to achieve the best results for the tinnitus community.
