What Is TinniSoothe?

TinniSoothe is a different approach to sound therapy for tinnitus - a small wearable device designed to keep gentle sound with you during the day and beside you at night.

Most sound therapy means putting something in your ears, using an app, sitting near a speaker, or switching between different devices. TinniSoothe was designed to do something different: keep sound therapy close, comfortable, and easy to use in real life.

TinniSoothe wearable sound therapy module and bedside docking station

The wearable module directs gentle sound towards your ears without blocking them, then sits in its bedside docking station at night, continuing sound therapy while it charges for the next day.

How It Works

Sound therapy is a well-established approach to tinnitus management. It works by adding gentle background sound, helping reduce the contrast between your tinnitus and the quiet around you.

TinniSoothe is designed to make sound therapy easier to use consistently - without earbuds, apps, or switching between different devices as you move through different environments. Over time, that consistency may help tinnitus feel less intrusive and easier to live alongside.

See It In Action

Charlie’s story shows why tinnitus can feel more noticeable as the world gets quieter, and why keeping gentle sound in the background can make support feel simpler.

The short explainer shows how TinniSoothe fits into everyday life - wearable during the day, beside you at night, and without needing to keep putting something in your ears or switching devices.

TinniSoothe sound therapy shown for daytime and nighttime use

Sound therapy without the compromise

Gentle sound directed towards your ears, not pumped into them. Keep your hearing open, with nothing to remove when someone speaks to you.

Always there as your day changes

Whether you're in a busy environment or a quiet moment, the sound is already there - no reaching for a phone, putting in earbuds, or switching between devices.

Tinnitus that feels less front of mind

Consistent sound therapy, day and night, may support habituation - where tinnitus gradually feels less dominant and less of a focus in everyday life.

"

As an audiologist who has severe tinnitus myself, I have been really impressed with the efficacy of TinniSoothe. I've previously tried using hearing aids with tinnitus maskers, but never stuck with them.

TinniSoothe is so easy to use and attaches neatly and discreetly to my clothing. But most of all it has become my comfort blanket. Knowing I'll notice my tinnitus less, allows me to enjoy each day more.

Why It’s Different

Most sound therapy options ask you to fit your day around the device - putting something in your ears, opening an app, pairing Bluetooth, sitting near a speaker, or switching between different tools for day and night.

TinniSoothe was designed the other way round: sound therapy that fits around real life, with open hearing, simple day-to-night use, and gentle sound that stays close without getting in the way.

Sound therapy without blocked hearing, earbuds or ear fatigue.

Gentle sound is already there when quieter spaces make tinnitus noticeable.

Wearable by day, docked at night, with 48-hour+ battery life.

Straight out of the box - no app, Bluetooth, WiFi or fiddly setup.

Gentle sound directed towards you, helping keep relief discreet.

Common Questions

Will other people be able to hear it?

In most cases it is unlikely anyone else will notice. The majority of users only need low to moderate volume, which isn’t usually noticeable to others.

Firstly, the sound is subtly channelled towards the user’s ears, like a “cocoon” of white noise. Secondly, others can’t see the device if it is worn under clothing, which reduces visual awareness.

But ultimately it does depend on individual settings. If you have severe or profound hearing loss, it may be an issue.

Has TinniSoothe been scientifically reviewed?

Yes, it has been independently reviewed by Tinnitus UK's expert panel, known as the Scientific Advisory Board. You can read their full review on Safety and Efficacy at https://tinnitus.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/TinniSoothe-September-2024.pdf

TinniSoothe is also registered with the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) as a Class 1 medical device. Reference number #26491: https://pard.mhra.gov.uk/manufacturer-search/tinnisoothe

Why would I want to listen to a second source of noise?

In simple terms, sound therapy is used as a diversion technique. By playing gentle background noise that you have chosen to hear, it can reduce the brain’s fixation on the tinnitus sound that it has identified as a threat. This can also reduce the anxiety that is caused by tinnitus distress, further alleviating symptoms.

Why wouldn’t I just stream white noise from a phone app?

TinniSoothe has been carefully designed to be a better solution than phone apps. Here’s why:

  • With an app, you’ll typically need to wear something in/around your ears (e.g. hearing aids or AirPods)
  • Playing white noise directly into the ears can quickly lead to listening fatigue.
  • And it fills the auditory canal with noise, blocking out other sounds around you.
  • Streaming via Bluetooth quickly drains the battery on your phone and/or hearing technology
  • Practicality. Try playing golf, doing yoga, fishing or doing work meetings with your phone playing white noise!

TinniSoothe solves for all of these scenarios.

Tinnitus relief that goes wherever you do.

Gentle sound therapy, worn during the day and beside you at night - without blocking your ears.
